Leigh Scott is a parenting facilitator and a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® teacher and Practitioner. She started her career as a Shiatsu Massage Therapist in 1982 and has had a private practice for over 30 years in the Hudson Valley. For five of those years, Leigh was a member of a collaborative study group with four psychologists, which focused on how to apply the most cutting edge social neuroscience and attachment research to their practices. Her favorite resource has been Dan Siegel’s IPNB training.
After decades of extensive study, she has combined psychology from leading mental health authorities and parenting experts, social neuroscience, and the Feldenkrais Method with her life’s experience as a parent. All of these skills came together in her work with infants and new parents, which addresses neurological and developmental issues and the concerns of parents.
Besides Dan Siegel’s many books, some of Leigh’s favorite parenting resources are Dr. Becky Bailey’s, “Conscious Discipline,” and “The Love and Logic Parenting Program.” This work and her mindfulness-based practices led to Leigh’s unique method of parent education.
Leigh has two grown children and two grandchild who live close to the Hudson Valley. Leigh and her husband Paul, live on their land in Livingston, NY, with their farm dog, Daisy and two cats. More animals to come!
