Parents with New Baby

Leigh teaches a unique and comprehensive form of sensory education that supports babies’ social, emotional and motor development. Using touch, sound, floor-time activities, and face-to-face interactions, Leigh teaches parents knowledgeable and somatic observation of the developmental progress of their babies and how to identify even slight developmental delays in the first few years of their baby’s life.

Getting down on a comfortable mat on the floor with our infants can open our eyes to the fascinating world of a baby’s brain. We learn that most infants are highly intelligent beings and their sensory nervous system is working full time to find social interaction and mobility. The fastest brain development happens in the first two years and is the most malleable.

Just For Parents

Aside from helping parents sort through all of the conflicting parenting information online, Leigh offers specific skills and techniques for the most common challenges parents usually face with young children. Leigh teaches parents empathetic and enforceable language designed to help young children do their own thinking around issues regarding siblings dealing with a new baby, hitting, sleep issues, tantrums, and more. She also offers ways to keep your connection with teenagers as they go through the tunnel of puberty.

Most importantly, Leigh addresses your needs as a parent, how to replenish yourself and unpack whatever gets in your way of being present and finding confidence and joy as a parent.

Feldenkrais Lessons

During a private session, Leigh verbally guides your attention to an internal sensory experience of subtle movements. “Awareness Through Movement” lessons are designed to develop sensory acuity and are based on how we learned to move as an infant. This process activates new neural pathways that allow for easier movement, less pain and improved function in whatever your daily activities are.

This learning modality can help with repetitive stress injuries, restriction of movement caused by problems such as Carpal Tunnel syndrome, chronic neck and back pain, TMJ difficulties, arthritis, recovery from injuries, or just as a mindfulness-based practice to reduce stress.

Baby Groups

Getting together with other families can be a fantastic support for parents. Most of us are struggling with similar issues as parents and coming together to share concerns can be very comforting. In this group setting using touch, sound, floor-time activities, and face-to-face interactions, Leigh shows the group how to support the developmental progress in the first year of their baby’s life.

Getting down on a comfortable mat on the floor with our infants can open our eyes to the fascinating world of a baby’s brain and can be a way for parents to join their baby in unwinding their own bodies in the fourth trimester. We learn that infants are highly intelligent beings and their sensory nervous system is working full time to find social interaction and mobility. The fastest brain development happens in the first two years and is the most malleable.
